"Whatever you say. Since I'm so weak, why haven't you caused me pain Nikolas? Because that's all you do. Make the weak suffer. I'm waiting, Nikolas. Make me scream, cry, make your pain go away, since you can do that, after making people suffer for what, half of your life? So where is my pain?" Lilah said with a sly smile.

Nikolas was raging inside, boiling up. Who did this girl think she was? She was nothing to him! Nothing! He turned around to face her, his hands clenched into fists. He decided to skip her memories since they didn't seem to work. He pulled up his own memories once more, this time of his feeling of aloneness and abandonment. He remembered how it was to wander alone in the streets of the town that hated him, he pushed them onto her, willing her to see how it was to feel alone, to feel hated and despised.

Lilah felt sympathy for him. But he was not causing her pain. "Nikolas, you really think that you are the only person to feel like this? I haven't felt as bad as this, but you are not the only person to experience this. Stop complaining about how horrible your life is. Because it isn't that bad anymore. You have had a bad past, but you are the one who still makes your self feel this pain. If I wanted, when my parents died, I could have dobne what you did, but did I? No, I let go, moved on. I can't believe that yopu are so ignorant! To think that you have had it worse than anybody else! When are you going to grow up and realize that you are just being a baby!?" Lilah was now angered. His pain, was bad, but not nearly as bad as he made it seem.

Nikolas did not answer. He did not want to admit she was right, about everything, but it seemed the more she said, the more she seemed to be right. Her words struck a cord in him, and he coulndn't ignore it. He did not say anything, just sat there and tried to figure out how to answer her.

Lilah walked over to the nearest tree. She leaned against it, her black hair getting peices of bark stuck in it. "Nikolas, don't you think you've lived with your pain long enough? Been alone long enough? Been miserable long enough?" Lilah whispered. Her green eyes watched him.

Nikolas did not look at her. He wrestled with his conflicting emotions, unsure what to do. He did not want to admit he was wrong, he would not do it. He had lived well enough on his own all his years, but was he really alright in the end? Was he really sane at the end of the night? Was he still miserable , still filled with pain at the end of the night?

Lilah did not say anything for a few moments. She just waited for him to say something. She watched him with curiousity. She was unsure of what he was thinking, or what he would say next. So she just watched, and waited, patiently.

"The pain of others makes me feel better, and that will never change. Whether I am friends with one person or not, I will be finding the pain of others where I can. I cannot change that part of myself, it has been around too long. If you want to hang around a tormenter, than go right ahead. I guess one friend would do no harm," Nikolas finally relented, still looking at the ground, hands clenched.

Lilah smiled. "Everybody needs atleast one friend, even if they find joy in others' pain." Lilah sat down where she was at, her green eyes on Nikolas. She felt so proud. She, got Nikolas to be her friend... And she even thought that maybe, just maybe, sometime, much later in the future, she could get him to stop tormenting people...

Nikolas stayed were he was, standing awkwardly. He was unsure of what to do, not used to thinking of someone as an ally.

Lilah didn't know what to say to him. She hid her self in her shadows without even realizing it. She felt the akwardness hanging in the air. So she sat there silent.

"You hide in the shadows. Why? You feel uncomfortable, awkward," Nikolas said quietly.

"Oh," Lilah laughed softly. "My shadows often hide me now, without me even making them." She removed her shadows. "I feel safer with them, so I guess I subconciously hide in them." She looked down at the ground, and then back up.

"You do not let pain come to you very easily... Why?" Nikolas asked.

"Well, I do not like pain. I can handle it, but I'd prefer not to experience it. And, I guess I've just learned to keep it away. To not let it bother me.. It is just something that I've learned I guess." Lilah shrugged. She had just taught herself that pain was only a thing, it came and went. And so, it was harder for her to feel pain. Or for it to bother her.
