Lilah limped back towards the camp. Her right calf was bloody with scratches and teeth marks. She had been practicing hiding things in shadows. She concetrated on nothing and had cleared her mind. So when the wolf ran towards her she didn't notice, until it bit her leg. She screamed out in agony and summoned any and every demon she could, for Lilah couldn't fight or protect herself unless she used her power. The demons fought the wolf as Lilah escaped.
When she arrived at the camp, she went straight to the hospital tent. She saw Andromeda and the girl she had never seen before. "I was attacked by a wolf," Lilah said quietly, not looking at Andromeda's eyes.

"My dear child, why are you ashamed of that? You got away, did you not You used your powers when you needed them, did you not? I believe you have just accomplished what many wish they could do. Come, let the warden see that leg. We don't want you to bleed to death," Andromeda said with a small, knowing smile. Her eyes looked at her with a small trace of pride.

"I did.." Lilah answered Andromeda's questions, which Lilah assumed were rhetorichal questions but she answered anyways. "Who is that girl?" Lilah asked, nodding towards Haruki, for she had never seen her before.

"This is Haruki Riverflow. She is a fire wielder, quite young, who I just found out in the woods tonight. She just needs rest and food and she will be fine, ready to start developing her wonderous gift," Andromeda said with another smile, her quiet whisper voice holding an air of pride for both the girls.

"Fire, huh?" Lilah said, "I've always been facinated by the elementals who can control fire. And, my leg is starting to throb.." Lilah smiled, but there was pain behind it because of her leg. She sat down in a chair and closed her eyes. Without realizing it, she hid herself in a shadow.

"My dear, you really must stop hiding that beautiful face of yours," Andromeda said as she moved the shadows away so the warden could look at her leg. "Some shadows suit you, but not too many, we must be able to see you. And fire elementals are very nice, but then again, all the elements are beautiful in their own ways. You just have to look for it," Andromeda said. She had moved to sit closer to Lilah, so as to not disturb the young sleeping Haruki.

"Sorry, I'm just so used to hiding within my shadows. It's the only time I feel completly safe. There is no one to judge me, or upset me. I am left to myself, to be who I want to be," Lilah said to Andromeda. She gasped quickly in pain as the warden fixed her leg.

"My dear, you do not have to hide yourself. You can be yourself outside of your shadows, let the world see you for yourself. That is not always a bad thing," Andromeda said with a smile. Her voice had changed to sound more like the small rush of air around them, still just as quiet. The stars outside twinkled in response to her voice change, shining somewhat dimmer in the sky, leaving the moon to stand out. Andromeda looked out the window and took in the change with a glance.

Lilah nodded. She did not have a response. She waited a moment and then asked, "Why do we have these powers?" Her green eyes glanced outside, too, and her black hair glowed in the moonlight.

"I don't know, my dear. I don't know why the powers of Aurora and I have seeped over to join the generations after us. They have always been appearing in the humans around us, always just one for them. And we have slowly taught them how to use them. That is all anyone knows, my dear," said Andromeda quietly, even quieter than usual. She looked at the moon in thought, pondering the young child's question.

"Well, do you know why you and Aurora got your powers?" Lilah had always wondered why people had these powers. How some had them, and others did not. And there were times when she wished, she didn't have them, yet others where she was very grateful, like tonight. Lilah brushed a piece of her hair out of of her green, curious eyes.

"We were born with them; I from the shadows with powers of the night, and she from the light, with powers of the day. I know no more than that. But we have wondered over it for many centuries, my dear. It is something that everyone wonders about," Andromeda said, looking out the window at the moon the entire time she spoke, her whispery voice quieter than ever before.

"Okay," Lilah whispered, to match the voice level of Andromeda. Lilah closed her green eyes and thought for a moment. She thought about her power. Shadows. The only thing she really ever did with it was hide. Thats the only thing she found any use for. Yes, summoning demons could be helpful, but she rarely used it. She had hid quiet often as she grew up. When she went through her stage of depression... She was very little then, and hiding was the best thing for her..

"What is going through your mind now, my child? Oh, the things I have had cross my mind over the years... It has been many centuries since the beginning of the world... Living through every era makes you realize things, things that no mortal every could understand about the world. The world is filled with many different kinds of people, all unique in their own way. I believe that maybe... Maybe it is those people that realize they are different that have the power to pull the elements around them to do their will," Andromeda said, lost in though as she looked out the window, the stars reflected in her eyes. Her voice had changed again, to sound more like the soft whisper of things moving in the shadows, the stars brighter than ever before.

Lilah opened her eyes, and when she did, the whole room darkened from her shadows. She likes to think that she is happy, but it turns out, that Lilah is more depressed than most people in her tribe. Lilah made it even darker around herself. For she wanted to be hidden at the moment. Hidden from everyting.
