Haruki Riverflow trudged through the dark, shadow filled forest. The thick undergrowth trampled her feet and despite all of this she wasn't the slightest bit afraid. Her thoughts were focused on escaping the orphanige where she had been unfairly treated and beaten for no true reason. Her heart ached when she thought of her past so she pushed the matter aside and let determination take over. Though she had no idea where she was going or what she would do when she got there, Haruki knew she had to escape, and now! Her long, dirty blonde hair wouldn't stop getting caught on the branches and plants so she tied it up with her fire- colored ribbon. "Better," she whispered quietly. Haruki gazed up through the trees and noticed one star, her star, as she had claimed when she was little, was shining much more brightly then the rest. She let the cool night air calm her exhausted figure and soon she knew that she had to rest. As she tried to find a place to rest she faced reality. She was lost. Exhaustion overcame her worry and she soon fell asleep beside a large oak tree surrounded by ivy.

Andromeda's step were as silent as the snow falling during the winter. Her long black dress barely moved the fallen red and gold leaves that the fall weather had brought down, her cloak moving as if it were a river behing her. Her icy blue gray eyes looked around her in sad disdain. The woods were her home, expecially at this time at night. She looked up at the sky, her beautiful children shining all around. This was as close to peace as she got since that fateful day so many centuries ago. The memories of that night never left her for long. It had been towards twilight, one of the two times when both Aurora and her where strong, neither of them weaker than the other. Their fighting had steadily getting worse by the hour. They had been fighting for days, and most people around them knew not to get inbetween Night and Day when they're fighting. Silas did not... It had been an accident of course, and neither of them know who's strike killed him. They just know he was dead, and one of them had done it. Their fighting had increased by so much then. They were tore apart, and nothing could bring them back again. Andromeda tried to ignore the painful feeling in her gut. She would not admit that she was wrong. She would not beg for forgiveness like a simple little pheasent. She was not like that. She had been around since the beginning of time, witnessed everything that had happened in the world. Begging and giving up were not for her. As she walked, Andromeda took in everything around her, nothing escaping her penetrating stare. So when she passed by the hanging ivy oak tree, it was no suprise that she noticed the small sleeping form under it. She pulled the ivy aside to so a small girl with dirty blonde hair laying against the trunk, fast asleep. Andromeda could feel the power of fire rolling off of her, washing the clearing with its intensity. Andromeda smiled, she had found another one, this one with more power than she probably even knew. She silently sat beside her, watching her sleep, feeling the power as it washed over her.

Haruki woke suddenly after a short sleep. Her legs ached for more rest, but she knew she had to go on, if she were to escape her horrid life. Her eyes fluttered open and she saw a beautiful woman in a long black dress sitting beside her. Oh no, she thought. She's come to take me back. A tear drop fell down her cheek and she began silently arguing with herself. This woman looks nice. I should stay. No, I should run. NO, I should fight. Her thoughts raced and a rage grew in her heart. Why can't I just make up my mind?! Why is this so hard?! The rage consumed her, and in turn, the fire. It surrounded her like a personal sheild and copied her every move. She stood up, ready for this person to dash away with fear.

"Calm down, my child, there is nothing to fear. I am Andromeda, Daughter of Shadows, leader of the Tribe of Night. You, my dear, have the power to control fire, and there are more like you back in my tribe. Will you come with me? You may rest and find plenty to eat once there," Andromeda said in her silky, quiet whisper of a voice. She stood, her movements fluid, like the shadows from which she was born. Her skin was pale white, somewhat glowing in the light of the full moon. Her dress sleeve fell to some what cover the hand she was holding out to Haruki, watching with a quiet wonder to see what she would decide.

"How do I know that I can trust you?" she replied, this woman's calm voice calming her rage. Something deep in her gut told her that she was a good person, and had good intentions. Her fire began to die out and she tried to find the rage to power it. She failed. Soon, Haruki's fire was more than a flame on her fingertips. Crap, why can't I even show a little courage? she questioned herself. I feel like such a coward. "The tribes! Those are just some myth to keep kids from going out into the forest!" Rain began to fall and her fire dissapeared completely. Her heart seemed to have shrunk and her baggy t-shirt was soaked in the rain.

"My dear little fire weilder, I am no myth. My tribe is no myth, and my enemy is certianly no myth. You will see that many things that were said to be a myth are the truth. You can call on fire to aid you, yet you will say the tribes and other elementals are myths? We are all around you, you stand on earth, it grows around you. Air is all around, shadows too. You control fire, and spirit is inside of you. Anywhere you look you will see proof of the tribes. "Seeming to be strong and always angry is not the best way to show courage, my child. Sometimes the best courage is knowing when to step down and accept some help. Trust me, in time you will be able to control fire even when you are not angry, even in the rain. With practice, and in time, you will grow to be a strong fire weilder. But first you will have to trust me, and I can give you nothing to help with that. That is something you will have to choose on your own," replied Andromeda. Rain seemed to just slide off of her, leaving not a trace of having been there.

Haruki nodded, determined. All of her instincts told her to accept her help and go with her. Her stomach gave a final growl of deep hunger and she gave in. "Okay.... I will come with you." Her voice was a hoarse whisper and she was so tired she was just about to faint. Her legs ached, her head throbbed, her sides felt as if they were being stabbed by daggers. Her breathing was getting harder and harder to keep silent.

"Look inside of yourself, my child. Find your element and call on strength from it. Let it help you back to the tribe. You are about to fall asleep on your feet," Andromeda said with a small laugh that sounded like the whisper of the wind in the trees. She pulled up a small flame and held it near to Haruki, letting the warmth roll over them so she could concentrate. The child must learn to call on her powers even when exhausted, expecially when exhausted. With as much power as this one had, she must learn to control it fast.

"Please... not now..." her voice faded. She felt as if all the life had been sucked out of her and her thoughts soon became very simple. Find shelter, sleep, eat, rest. That was all she could think about. Her gaze soon turned to the woman. She actually believes in me, she thought. Fury built up inside of her from all the times she had been abused, abandoned, let down. That won't happen again! I will show her! Flames engulfed her arms and legs. Lastly, an orange glow covered her heart.

"There you go, my child. For now, rage must do. Use the strength you get from the fire to make it to the tribe. Now come, it is a ways back," Andromeda said. She turned and started walking back through the forest, not even looking back to see if the child followed. She walked at her normal sort of slow pace, taking in her surrounding, not letting even one thing escape her notice. When she came within distance of her tribe, she started to see other elementals flitting through the trees. The camp opened up in a large clearing, elementals gathering in several different places around the camp. She looked back to see if the child had followed her, and to decide where she would need to go first.

Haruki followed silently. She did not take in her surroundings, she just kept thinking of the things she wanted most. Food, water, rest. She let her longing take controll of her and when she entered the tribe, she no longer cared if it was real or fake. She didn't pay attention to it's appearance or say a word.

Andromeda sighed and led the child to the camps hospital tent. The warden was a nice man and he quickly saw that the child had food and water in front of her and a bed to rest in. He left after that to go care for other patients, leaving Andromeda with the child. She sat beside her bed and whispered to one of the elementals around her. She watched silently as the rest of the elementals around her left, leaving the two alone. Andromeda stared out the window at the stars, her eyes reflecting their pale shine.
